Belle of the Ball!

Sweet Belle came to Henrico Humane from a local animal control.  Soon after her arrival, we found out that she had a cancerous mammary tumor.  We did surgery right away, but unfortunately it was too late.  The cancer had already metastasized, and we learned that our sweet girl only had a few months left to live.  So our plans changed from helping her heal to helping her find a loving hospice home where she could spend the rest of her days.

Being a hospice foster isn't easy, but a wonderful family stepped up and took our Belle in.  They loved her, and she loved them right back.  While Belle didn't get the happily ever after that we hoped for, we were grateful to give her the chance to be loved and doted upon during her last days with us.  Belle recently lost her battle with cancer, but she was surrounded by people who adored her.

With generous donations from people like you, Henrico Humane Society has the ability to help cats that would otherwise be overlooked or left behind in local shelters.  Most of the cats and kittens we take in get the medical care they need and then find loving forever homes where they have many years of happy memories with their wonderful new families.  Unfortunately, sometimes the cats that we take in suffer from medical problems that they cannot overcome, and the best we can do is make sure that they leave this world knowing that they are loved and cherished.  Belle is just one example of how your donations during our Cash for Cats fundraiser can make a difference in the life of a cat in need.
