Pet Expo Rules for Participation
You will need to acknowledge the following Rules for Participation prior to entry
(either when buying tickets online or at the door)
By attending Pet Expo You* agree to the following:
Your pet is healthy and of the appropriate temperament to participate in this event. Your pet is current on its vaccinations.
You will be responsible for your pet and keep it under control at all times. Retractable leashes are strongly discouraged. If you chose to use a retractable leash, you will ensure it is locked at no more than 6’ in length while at the event.
You will clean up after your pet using supplies provided by Expo management.
Your pet will be leashed or in a carrier at all times, except while participating in a contest or the lure course. If using a stroller, your pet will be secured at all times.
A responsible adult must accompany all children under the age of 14. If you are bringing a pet to the event, you are over 18 years old.
Your pet is wearing an identification tag. Temporary ID tags are available if needed.
Event management reserves the right to exclude any animal from any and all events at the Pet Expo for any reason.
You agree to release and waive all rights to make a claim for damages against the Henrico Humane Society, its members and volunteers, the organizers and sponsors of this event, and the vendors, demonstrators and exhibitors for any injury or damage to you, to any minors or other persons for whom you are responsible, to your pet(s) or to your property arising out of, or in any way connected to this event.
You understand that there are risks inherent in participating in an event with pets and you agree to assume those risks so you can attend the Expo.
You agree to allow Henrico Humane Society and any of its agents to use your name and photographs, videotapes, recordings, or other records of your participation in this event in any broadcast, promotion, or other account of this event.
You also agree to the use of any photographs or video of your and/or your pet which may be taken at the Expo for use in promotion of future Henrico Humane and/or Pet Expo events.
*The term “You” includes all adults aged 18 and older.
upper respiratory illness precautions
Dogs coming to Pet Expo could be at risk for contracting an upper respiratory illness. Consult with your vet and/or research the illness online to decide whether or not you should bring your dog with you to the event. Precautions include:
Keep your dog close by using a 4' - 6', non-retractable leash to avoid unnecessary contact with other dogs.
Do not bring your dog if they are showing any signs of illness including, but not limited to, coughing, sneezing, goopy eyes, runny nose and/or lethargy. Any dog exhibiting symptoms of illness will be required to leave the event and the owner's entrance fee will not be refunded.
Bring a collapsible water bowl so your dog does not need to drink out of a communal bowl. Disposable bowls will be available while supplies last.
Ensure your dog's vaccinations are up-to-date as of February 9 (2 weeks prior to the event). Recommended vaccinations include Bordetella, Adenovirus type 2, and parainfluenza combined with the injectable influenza H3N2 vaccine.
Leave higher risk dogs at home such as those with a known heart or respiratory disease.
