Rehoming Options
Make sure you reach out to the person/rescue/shelter you adopted from. Most will take the animal back or have rehoming options.
These resources provide courtesy listings: Adopt a Pet | Richmond SPCA | Richmond Animal League | RVA Pets Rehoming Board
HHS will post courtesy listings on our Petfinder page, If your pet is spayed/neutered. Email pictures and bio information on your pet to community@henricohumane.org
Another option is to contact your veterinarian, and family members, as well as posting on social media to let people know you are looking for a home for your pet. There are many people always looking for a new companion.
Look for rescues specific to your breed of dog/cat and ask if they offer courtesy listings.
Ask all the rescues in your area if they can offer a courtesy listing on their website.
