Shelter Adoption Events in August
Join Henrico Humane Society “Shelter Squad” Volunteers as we help your family find the perfect pet to welcome into your loving home. The Henrico Police Animal Shelter is undergoing renovations so we’re holding more events this month to keep animals out of the shelter during construction - see below for dates and places.
The multi-shelter Clear the Shelters event will be on Saturday, August 15 from 10 am - 4:30 pm - click here for details.

Clear the Shelters Adoption Event
Multi-shelter event! There will be over 60 dogs, cats and kittens available for adoption - thanks to Henrico Humane Society, Furbish Thrift, and the William A. Harrison Jr. Foundation, most of the animals will have already been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Let’s get all of these amazing furry friends out of the shelters and into their forever homes! Participating shelters are listed below along with a link to their adoptable animals. Contact the shelters directly to find out if a particular animal will be at the event.

Requirements: Must be 18 or older with a valid photo ID. Adoption fees vary by shelter (as low as $10). You do not need to be a resident of a County to adopt from its shelter.

Adoption Event at Petco
Visit Henrico Humane Society volunteers at the Petco on Staples Mill Road to meet cats and dogs looking for their forever families. Pet Adoption Bonanza
Over 100 adoptable animals are expected to be at the Pet Adoption Bonanza on June 13 from 11 am - 3 pm. There will be dogs, puppies, cats and kittens of all sizes, shapes, and breeds! Adoption counselors will be on hand to help you choose a pet that is a great fit for your family. All animals will be spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and ready to go home with you!

Sandston Memorial Day Parade
Join us for the Sandston Memorial Day Parade! The parade is a Richmond tradition featuring community groups, veterans, and marching bands to honor fallen military heroes. After the parade, bring your family to the block party and enjoy great music, a kids area, exhibitor booths and food! You’ll find Henrico Humane Society at our booth, where you can learn about fostering, or adopting your forever companion pet.
