Volunteer Appreciation Week (is every week....but especially this week!)

Volunteer Appreciation Week was April 17-24, and we want to recognize our volunteers who spend hundreds of hours per month supporting our cause to rescue dogs and cats and place them in loving forever homes.

Foster & Adoption Stand volunteers

Because we do not have a shelter, we fully rely on fosters to provide loving temporary homes for our rescues. Our adoption stand volunteers help make sure everything runs smoothly when we showcase these wonderful animals each Saturday at Petco.

It takes a village to care for these animals, so not everyone is pictured - but we are grateful to all of those who care so much about these sweet cats and dogs! Hundreds of animals have been saved and placed in forever homes because of these wonderfully devoted people.

Pet Expo Volunteers

We also want to take a moment to shout out our Pet Expo volunteers. Pet Expo is our largest fundraising event, and it takes an enormous amount of help to make the event run successfully. This year, over 50 volunteers provided their time and dedication to Pet Expo, helping us raise over $60K for Henrico Humane.

Our “behind the scenes” volunteers

Thank you to all of the volunteers who work behind the scenes to make HHS run smoothly by doing things like updating our website, posting on social media, processing mail and answering our phone line.

our amazing Volunteer Coordinator, Dena Zundel

Thank you, Dena!

Dena has served on the Board and as Volunteer Coordinator for many years.  She reviews all volunteer applications and works tirelessly to recruit and train new volunteers, organize volunteers for events, plan our volunteer appreciation party and helps out at adoption stand.   We are so grateful for her leadership and dedication!

THANK YOU to all of our volunteers who contribute in so many ways!

We are always in need of more people to help us in our efforts. We would love to have YOU as part of the team helping to rescue dogs and cats in need.
