Fostering an Animal (Safehousing a pet)
A "safehouser" is a person who opens his/her heart and provides a home for abandoned or rescued pets until they can be adopted into permanent loving homes. The safehouser provides the love, attention, and the transportation to our adoption sites. The Henrico Humane Society provides the food, supplies, and medical care.
Being a "foster parent" is a lot like being a grandparent--you get to have all the fun spoiling them and then you send them home. The biggest joy of being a foster parent is seeing how this animal, that you have loved and cared for, brings joy to its new adoptive family.
