Sponsor A Pet

If you are unable to provide foster care for rescued animals that have special needs, you can help to make their wait more pleasant by participating in our Sponsor-A-Pet program.

If you are interested in adopting or providing foster care, please contact us by calling (804) 262-6634. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor for one of our "special needs" animals, please send your gift to the Henrico Humane Society. You will receive a letter for tax purposes. In the event that funds raised for this animal exceed expenses, any additional monies donated will be used to help other animals with extensive medical conditions.

Because of your compasioniate heart, another needy pet will feel loved.

HHS keeps animals in foster care until they can be placed in a permanent, loving home, no matter how long that takes. Because some animals require a very special kind of home, they may stay in our system for months or even years. Some of these animals require ongoing medical assistance or one-on-one training sessions, and others just need basic care items such as food and vaccinations. Please help us cover these expenses by sponsoring a dog or cat shown here. Your help is greatly appreciated!!

Sponsor-a-Pet is a new program that allows members to pledge a monthly contribution to help care for the animal until a home is found. We understand that many people can't adopt or foster some of these animals but would love to help these animals. All of these animals are still available for adoption, but may take a while to find a home and the donations will help to subsidize the cost of keeping them when other organizations may have euthanized them. Please see the sponsorship registration form below for more information on how to sponsor these animals.

Positively Wonderful Cats is our other new program, designed to focus on cats that have tested positive for Feline AIDS and Feline Leukemia. These cats can live for years with the diseases, but are not easily adopted for many reasons, including: they are not able to be kept with other cats because of contagion, people are afraid that they can catch Feline AIDS (they can't), and the life expectancy of these animals is shorter than that of a healthy cat. These cats still make wonderful pets and are available for adoption. Positively Wonderful Cats will focus on educating the public about these diseases and feature cats that have tested positive for these diseases at local adoption sites.
