The Jessica Beath Foundation

Henrico Humane Society is pleased to acknowledge a generous grant from the Jessica Beath Foundation to support its ongoing mission of animal rescue. 

Jessica Beath created The Beath Foundation in 1991 with two missions in mind.   The first was to honor the memory of her husband Dr. Thomas Beath, her parents Mr. and Mrs. William Thomas, and her sisters Annie Thomson and Beatrice Stockdale

The foundation's second mission is to provide financial support for organizations with certain charitable purposes, first and foremost among them being the general welfare and protection of animals. 

Jessica pursued both of these missions relentlessly throughout her life, and with a bequest to the Jessica Beath Foundation at her death. 

Sadly, Jessica Passed away in June 2010. 

Now, it is incumbent upon the Henrico Humane Society to continue and expand her legacy of animal rescue and protection with the generous financial support her foundation has provided to Henrico Humane Society.  The Board of HHS has decided to use this grant money to help animals in desperate need of expensive medical care which we may have not otherwise been able to afford.  

Due to this grant, HHS was recently able to save Beatrice, a puppy rescued from an animal shelter and diagnosed with Persistent Aortic Arch Condition which requires open heart surgery.  Dr. Lori Pasternak with Helping Hands Veterinary Surgical and Dental Care performed the surgery which saved Beatrice's life.   Many more animals like Beatrice will be able to receive medical care thanks to the generosity of the Beath Foundation.
