PLEASE NOTE: Henrico Humane is an all volunteer foster-care organization with NO SHELTER. Please read the information below before you contact us regarding surrendering an animal.

Cats: Unfortunately, all our kitty foster homes are filled to capacity at this time, and we cannot currently accept any new cat surrenders.  We suggest that you try one of the many other no-kill rescue groups in the area, such as SPCA, CARE, RAL, or SAFE/WECR.

Dogs: If you need to surrender a dog, please understand we may not be able to take your dog immediately.  We may be able to partner with you. Partnering means you keep your dog until we can find a new home for them.  Dogs must be up to date on vaccinations and spayed or neutered.   Then dogs can be placed on our website posting for adoptable dogs, and you will bring your dog to weekly adoption stands on Saturdays and pick it back up if not adopted. Please e-mail us with a detailed description of your dog including: age, size, temperament, personality, a picture if possible and reason for surrender.  A volunteer will contact you to discuss the possibility of partnering with us.

If you have found a stray dog or cat, please report it to your local animal control agency.
